DISCLAIMER: This Is not a thread relating to the balance of the Scrambler Rifle, rather it is an investigation into the mechanics of how the Scrambler Rifle works
Previously on the Dust 514 Forums
In continuation of the investigation into Scrambler Rifles, Deezy Dabest and I hopped onto DUST to test micro-charge damage scaling, and the overall charge multiplier on the Scrambler Rifle. The Procedure was the Same as when testing with Aeon, a flux grenade to get rid of the shields, followed up by firing a shot at various charge levels at the target. This time we allowed for the Armor to be fully repaired between every shot. After we finished gathering initial data, we confirmed there was no discrepancy with the Multipliers when using different tiers of Scrambler Rifles.
Link To Raw Data (and graph)
Conclusions Drawn (Tl;Dr): Scrambler Rifle's Fully Charged Multiplier is approximately 4x multiplier
Damage Scales Linearly towards the 4x(300% increase) (at a rate of approximately 1.57% every 10 ms)
Further Testing To Do: Heat buildup of Fully Charged Shots (WTB Numerical Heat Indicator)
Heat Scaling of Charged Shots (Rattati Plz)
Is it even possible to fire a base shot out of a Scrambler Rifle

Notice forum Warriors. If this charge x4 is reduced to x2 you would ultimately have to give this weapon a base damage buff. Careful what you wish for.
It has been changed back...I could gather yet another spreadsheet on the problem, and it wasn't the actual heat statistic that had been changed at that time, it was the Rate of Fire statistic (which seemed to prove that heat buildup is per shot, rather than per second...albeit in a roundabout way)

I'd really like to see more information please.
I say in a roundabout way since the stat in the weapon profile is Heat per Second. So let's look at the Scrambler Rifle:
Heat per Second: 50 Rate of Fire: 600
Rate of Fire, convert to Shots/s...so 10 Rounds per Second Divide Heat per Second by Rounds per second to get Heat/Round
In the case of the ScR, 5 heat per round base.

I don't necessarily think that the Damage Profile is the issue, I strongly feel that it is the system of shields/shield modules as a whole that creates issues...and moving the damage profile of lasers isn't going to change the situation much.
@Devs/GMs Any chance you can tell us how much heat is generated by a fully charged shot? Also, a data gathering drive would be nice to determine the average RoF on Semi-automatic weaponry.

Any player that does not know the forums exist because every single in game explanation SUCKS. Bandwidth does not even have a definition anywhere. How can we expect to have a NPE when new players have literally no chance of understanding what is going on in the game if they do not come to the forums or get lucky enough to fall into a squad with a helpful vet.
while I agree that CCP needs to advertise the forums a bit more in-game...not everything needs to be absolute public knowledge. The Scrambler Rifle specifically needed to be investigated because of a lot of conflicting information being given by players, and a lot of misinformation that has taken hold (some of which I myself helped perpetuate), so I felt an effort was needed to properly explain the mechanics to counteract the damage that had already been done. It is also important to ensure that there where no accidental changes caused by who knows what in the database (as we saw with the officer suit layouts, some changes can have unintended side-effects).

Adding an info line that says 4x to the scrambler rifle info in game. Adding a pop up or even a load screen detailing bandwidth. Adding a pop up or even load screen detailing the vehicle entry timers so that blues will stop chasing down my vehicle thinking they are going to get in even tho I have no intention of sitting there for 15 seconds. I almost feel sorry for these guys as they have just fallen under the impression that no one ever wants them in their vehicle. Just the simplest things that CCP could add a description of in game to assist new players in actually making it more than a couple of days. No, I do not think they should point players to the forums more as they will just lead them to join the rumor mongering, trolling, and generally leave them with the bad feeling of Dust that most people get after seeing all the bitching on the forums. Besides that some players do no have any type of browser access besides their PS3. Does that mean they should quit the game to come search the forums every time they do not understand some thing?
Fair enough...some more stats being displayed on the items would be very useful such as: Optimal Range Effective Range Damage Type (The Bonuses) Available Bandwidth on Dropsuits Bandwidth cost on Deployables Charge Shot Damage/Multiplier (where applicable) Remove Heat/s statistic, add Heat/shot statistic...(unless CCP just likes trolling us by leaving it in)
As for the forums...I do think that letting players know that the forums exist and/or making it more obvious that the forums exist in-client is a good thing.
As for the loading screen text...maybe we should have a thread to gather from the forum community what useful information/tips/hints should be on the loading screens?
